Project narrative
An original clay creature study exploring bilateral symmetry, compressed volumes and layered anatomical structures.
Context
Created by PAFX Studio in Vietnam in 2026, Alien Butterfly 2.0 is an original clay creature sculpture developed as Object Study / 001. The project examines how a recognizable facial structure can be transformed through symmetry, compressed volume and unfamiliar anatomical relationships.
Creative intention
The design moves between the organic and the unfamiliar. A central node anchors the forehead, while recessed ocular forms, segmented structures beneath the eyes and a dense dental formation create tension across the face. The sculpture is designed to read as a complete specimen while preserving distinct areas of surface, void and structural rhythm.
Role of PAFX
PAFX Studio was responsible for the complete development of the work, from the original concept and creature design to the finished clay sculpture.

Process
The clay study was developed by refining the overall silhouette and the relationships between the forehead, eyes, cheek structures and dental area. Directional surface marks reinforce the flow of the forms, while recessed areas and controlled negative space give the face depth and visual tension.
