THE LAST SIGHT
Context
Created in Vietnam in 2021 for a horror film project, the makeup was conceived as a practical, camera-ready injury effect. The visual needed to remain convincing in close-up while preserving the performer’s natural facial structure.
Creative intention
The effect was designed around the aftermath of sudden trauma. Rather than relying only on blood and surface colour, the injury was built through changes in volume, depth and tissue structure. The displaced eye becomes the visual focus, while the surrounding swelling and damaged skin connect the effect naturally to the face.
Project narrative
Created for a horror film project, The Last Sight presents a severe ocular injury through silicone prosthetics and practical makeup effects. The work was developed to appear physically convincing on camera while remaining integrated with the performer’s natural facial structure.
Role of PAFX
PAFX Studio was responsible specifically for applying the silicone prosthetic to the performer and completing the character paint. Character design, sculpting, mould-making, prosthetic fabrication, costume, hair and other production components were created by other artists or teams.

Process
The prosthetic was developed to follow the anatomy around the eye and cheek while creating enough depth for the simulated trauma. After casting in silicone, the piece was applied and blended into the performer’s skin. Layered colour, localized bruising, inflammation and wet detailing were then added to complete the effect under production lighting.
